Sapporo Clock Tower (Tokeidai) is a wooden American-style building from 1878, one of the city’s oldest surviving structures. It sits a short walk from Odori subway and about 10 minutes south of JR Sapporo Station. The bell still marks the hour. Walk this order. 2. Odori Park

From stop 1 · 5 minutes · 30–45 minutes
Map
Odori Park is a 1.5 km green belt cutting the city grid from east to west. Lilacs in spring, the Snow Festival in February, and a straight walk to the TV Tower at 1-chome. Walk this order. Enter from the Clock Tower side · walk the blocks west or east · finish at the TV Tower end.

3. TV Tower

From stop 2 · east end of Odori · 30–40 minutes
Map
Sapporo TV Tower stands 147 m at Odori 1-chome. The observation deck at about 90 m looks down the park and, on a clear day, toward Ishikari Bay. Linked to Aurora Town underground. Walk this order. Base and park edge · lift to the deck · look west along Odori · down to street level toward Susukino.

4. Hitsujigaoka Hokkaido Shrine

From stop 3 · subway Tozai to Maruyama Koen · 45–60 minutes
Map
Hokkaido Shrine sits in the woods of Maruyama Park, founded when Sapporo was laid out. Bow at the gate, rinse at the temizuya, then walk the approach to the main hall. 5. Susukino District

From stop 4 · subway back to Susukino · 45–90 minutes

Susukino is Sapporo’s neon entertainment quarter, a few blocks south of Odori. Ramen Yokocho, the Nikka sign, and the Snow Festival ice venue in winter. Best after dark; fine to walk in daylight too. 6. Okurayama Ski Jump

From stop 5 · bus or taxi west · 45–60 minutes

7. Beer Museum

8. Moerenuma Park

9. Mt. Moiwa

From stop 8 · back to the centre, then streetcar or bus to the ropeway · 60–90 minutes

10. Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill

From stop 9 · bus or taxi southeast · last stop · 45–60 minutes

Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill looks over the Ishikari plain and Sapporo’s southern edge. The bronze of Dr William S. Clark — “Boys, be ambitious” — is the photo stop. Sheep still graze the slope in season. Last stop on this route. Get there. Bus from Fukuzumi subway or a taxi from the centre. Pair with a clear afternoon. Walk this order.
